Having lobbied for this position, German Medicines Manufacturers' Association, BAH, said it welcomes the EU Council's proposal to exempt medicinal products and medical devices from the mandatory recyclability.“Only packaging that has undergone extensive stability tests can be used for these product groups. Currently, there are no materials on the market that fulfil these requirements,” the association commented. “The Council's proposal would make an important contribution to the security of supply of medicinal products.”
Agreeing with BAH, Haleon in its formal response to the Commission’s consultation process pointed out that there is currently “no technically recyclable solution commercially available at scale that ensures the quality, safety and efficacy” of medicinal products.

Bezeichnenderweise verläuft einer Umfrage aus dem vergangenen Mai zufolge die Grenze zwischen Für- und Gegensprechern ziemlich genau in der Mitte der Bevölkerung in Deutschland. Demnach wertet etwa mehr als die Hälfte der Deutschen homöopathische oder anthroposophische Arzneimittel als (eher) positiv. Frauen sind demgegenüber mit 62 Prozent aufgeschlossener als Männer (47 Prozent). Die Umfrage, an der mehr als 1000 Befragte teilnahmen, hatte der Bundesverband der Arzneimittelhersteller (BAH) in Auftrag gegeben.

Nach Angaben des Bundesverbands der Arzneimittelhersteller haben im Jahr 2022 Apotheken inklusive Versandhandel 45 Millionen Packungen Phytopharmaka und Homöopathika abgegeben, der Umsatz beläuft sich auf mehr als 608 Millionen Euro, bei einem Gesamtumsatz von etwa 69 Milliarden Euro. Es ist also ein vergleichsweise kleiner Teil, aber dennoch ein riesiger Markt.
